Did You Purchase a Smart Scale That Claimed to Measure More Than Your Weight?

We are investigating whether certain biometric scales were marketed as providing accurate body composition measurements—including body fat percentage, BMI, muscle mass, and related metrics—despite alleged limitations in the technology used to generate those measurements.

Many consumers purchase biometric scales to help track fitness, health, and weight-management goals. These products are often marketed as providing detailed measurements beyond body weight, including body fat percentage, muscle mass, body water, and other body composition metrics.

When consumers pay more for those features, they should receive accurate information about what the product can and cannot measure. Our investigation focuses on whether certain biometric scales were marketed in a way that may have overstated the accuracy or reliability of those measurements.

We are evaluating whether consumers were given a clear and accurate picture before making a purchase.

The investigation currently includes:

  • GE Fit Plus
  • LePulse F4 Household Smart Body Fat Scale
  • Omron Body Composition Monitor and Scale HBF-514C
  • Omron Body Composition Monitor and Scale with Bluetooth Connectivity (BCM-500)
  • Arboleaf Body Scale CS20W
  • Arboleaf Segmental Body Scale

Additional products may be evaluated as the investigation continues.

Depending on the product, advertised measurements may have included:

  • Body fat percentage
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Muscle mass
  • Body water percentage
  • Bone mass
  • Metabolic information
  • Other body composition metrics

    Why are these measurements important?

    Consumers often use body composition measurements to make decisions regarding fitness, nutrition, exercise programs, and overall health. Many consumers are willing to pay more for products that claim to provide insights beyond simple weight tracking.

We are interested in speaking with individuals who:

  • Purchased a biometric or smart scale that claimed to measure body composition metrics;
  • Purchased one of the products currently under investigation;
  • Relied on claims about body fat percentage, BMI, muscle mass, metabolism, or related measurements when deciding to purchase the product; and
  • Paid for features they believed would provide meaningful body composition information.

There is no cost to contact us, submit information, or speak with our team about this investigation.

If we pursue a case on your behalf, you will not pay any attorney fees or litigation costs out of pocket. We are only paid if there is a recovery.

Submitting information does not obligate you to participate in any lawsuit, and our review of your information is free.

Why a Class Action?

Most class actions start the same way: a problem that impacts many individuals, but feels impractical—or impossible—for any one person to take on alone. The imbalance of resources is often obvious from the start.

Class actions allow claims to be resolved together when harm is widespread, and the legal or factual issues are common. Class actions may often provide the only way to recover damages for individuals, while holding a corporation accountable for its misconduct.

Learn More

When a case is well suited to be a class action, we look for the right client to serve as a class representative. A class representative serves as a fiduciary for all class members, committing to fairly and adequately represent their shared interests as if they were his or her own. The representative need not be legally sophisticated, but must remain engaged, informed, and cooperative throughout the litigation by understanding the claims, providing relevant facts, and actively participating in permitted discovery, including depositions, testimony, written responses, and document production.

By serving in this critically important role, the representative voluntarily acts on behalf of others with similar claims, recognizing that class actions promote fairness, efficiency, and equal benefit, while serving as an important mechanism to protect individuals or businesses harmed in a similar manner.

Class actions often require patience. There may be long periods of expert investigation, discovery, and motion practice before visible progress appears.

We communicate clearly about where the case stands and what that means for our clients. When strategic decisions need to be made, we focus on the long-term interests of the clients and potential class members. This includes guiding clients through each stage, explaining what to expect and how developments may affect the path forward.

While outcomes depend on the law and the facts, careful early work and consistent execution help reduce uncertainty and support credible advocacy over the life of the case.
